Project Independence is a non-profit organization which encourages children with Autism to reach their full potential through social interaction, life-skills training and sports.

Project Independence began as a result of the many needs our neighbors face in the everyday challenges caring for a child with Autism. Alarming statistics reveal the number of children diagnosed with Autism has grown from 1 in 10,000 just 10 short years ago to 1 in 166 today.

Project Independence will provide summer day camps and programs built to meet the needs of Autistic children who respond to sensory integration, applied behavior analysis and therapy. The sports program will offer recreational activities and challenges which help promote self esteem and develop independence for the future.

The goal of Project Independence is to open a facility to assist the family, one of the first of its kind in St. Tammany Parish.
